About us

Built for the long horizon.

KYMA Marine Power is a Greek engineering company building the energy-storage layer of the hybrid maritime transition — one cell technology, applied with discipline across the whole European fleet.

Who we are

One technology, one purpose

KYMA Marine Power designs, manufactures and installs supercapacitor-based energy storage for the global hybrid maritime market. Our two products — the onboard VirtualGen and the dockside ShoreLink — are purpose-built around supercapacitor cells rather than lithium-ion, because the maritime customer's real problems are safety, lifetime and charging speed, not energy density.

We exist to become the dominant supplier of supercapacitor marine energy storage across three segments: the refit of yachts of 30 metres and above, the newbuild specification of hybrid yachts at the largest tier, and the emissions-and-shore-compliance retrofitting of commercial vessels under Europe's converging maritime regulation. The unifying logic is the same in each: the chemistry that dominates marine storage today carries three structural disadvantages — fire risk, capacity fade and slow charging — that supercapacitor cells materially solve.

Why supercapacitor

A confined hull full of people cannot tolerate thermal runaway. A 15-year ownership cannot absorb a mid-life pack replacement. A short port call cannot wait two hours for a charge. Supercapacitor chemistry answers all three: no self-sustaining fire mode, more than 100,000 cycles, and a full charge in six minutes at the cell. We give up energy density — the one specification the maritime customer is least sensitive to — to win on the four that decide the purchase.

How we operate

We keep one engineering team, one product platform and one set of class-certified designs, and we apply them across all three segments. That discipline is what lets a company our size address the complete European market credibly — and it is why we choose partners and colleagues for the long term rather than the quick win.

What we stand for

Five commitments

Not marketing copy — these are the operational standards we organise the company around.

01

Safety first, always

Every product is engineered on the premise that a vessel is a confined space full of people. Our practices go beyond what classification societies currently require.

02

Lifetime, not lifecycle

The owner buys once and expects the system decades on. Warranties, software and service are aligned to a 30-year ownership horizon, not a replacement cycle — and at end of life the cells are fully recyclable.

03

Quietly powerful

The customer's experience is dominated by what they cannot hear, see or feel. We target acoustic and EMC signatures well below class limits.

04

Class-certified by default

Every product line carries the relevant approvals from launch. We do not ship pre-certification units into built vessels.

05

Designed for reality

Retrofit happens in a tight yard window, in hulls nobody fully documented. Our products are built to fit irregular spaces and integrate with what is already aboard.
